Responsible Gaming
10 Rules of Responsible Gaming
- If you choose to gamble, do so for entertainment purposes. If your gambling is no longer an enjoyable activity, then ask yourself why you are still “playing.”
- Treat the money you lose as the cost of your entertainment. Treat any winnings as a bonus.
- Set a dollar limit and stick to it. Decide before you go not only what you can “afford” to lose, but how much you want to spend. Do not change your mind after losing.
- Set a time limit and stick to it. Decide how much of your time you want to allow for gambling. Leave when you reach the time limit whether you are winning or losing.
- Expect to lose. The odds are that you will lose.
- Make it a private rule not to gamble on credit. Do not borrow money to gamble.
- Create balance in your life. Gambling should not interfere with or substitute for friends, family, work or other worthwhile activities.
- Avoid “chasing” lost money. Chances are the more you try to recoup your losses, the larger your losses will be.
- Don’t gamble as a way to cope with emotional or physical pain. Gambling for reasons other than entertainment can lead to problems.
- Become educated about the warning signs of problem gambling. The more you know, the better choices you can make.
SELF-IMPOSED LIMITS
Self-Imposed Interactive Gaming
All licensed and regulated online casinos and sportsbooks in Pennsylvania offer self-imposed limits, which allow you to restrict the amount of money and/or time that you spend gambling. Every online site offers the following self-imposed limits:
- Deposit limit– Limit on the amount of money a player can deposit on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Spend limit– Limit on the maximum amount of player deposits that may be put at risk during a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
- Wager limit– Limit on the maximum amount of any single wager on any iGaming contest.
- Daily time-based limit– A daily based limit that specifies the maximum amount of time a registered player may spend engaging in iGaming.
- Table limit (Poker only)– Limit on the maximum amount a registered player may bring to a peer-to-peer interactive gaming table.
- Temporary Suspension– A complete suspension of an iGaming account.
Please note, iGaming operators may use different names to refer to these limits. Some operators also offer additional limit types.
Some operators allow you to set these limits during registration. You can find more information about an operator’s self-imposed limit options by visiting the website’s Responsible Gaming page, which you can access by clicking the RG logo located on every PGCB-licensed iGaming site:
